Job Description – Studio Engineer (Concept Lab) 

In this role you will be working within the newly formed EAV Concept Lab – aiding the design and development of new last-mile mobility concepts and products, offering engineering guidance and regulation to the concept team. 

The Concept Lab aims to define the future of EAV products, and subsequently grow it’s global image through innovative e-mobility solutions and technology within the transport and logistics industry. Developing new products and solutions in coordination with high-profile partners such as DPD, Amazon. 

You will be producing real world prototypes of new urban mobility concepts, and will be following chosen projects through to design for manufacture and advanced engineering. 

Key role functions: 

  • Work on a variety of different projects and tasks in a range of product design areas in the EAV Concept Lab. 
  • Support concept generation for new product ideas, proposing a range of engineering solutions to a given brief 
  • Explore new and innovative engineering principles to advance the EAV product architecture 
  • Create stylish but functional design solutions 
  • 3D CAD using Solidworks, for prototyping and manufacture 
  • Produce functional prototypes of designs using techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining and vacuum casting, and metal/wood work. 
  • Create technical drawings and manufacturing specifications for product manufacture 
  • Liase with external manufacturers to aid build of prototypes. 


Key Personal Requirements
: 

  • 3 years+ experience in an engineering or product design position 
  • Proficient in Solidworks, CATIA (or similar CAD software) 
  • Expansive knowledge base – considering aspects related to transport design (chassis, structures, surfacing etc.) 
  • Experience in design for manufacture 


Electric Assisted Vehicles Ltd 

  • Sound knowledge of processes such as injection moulding 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Experience of developing complex mechanical solutions 
  • Degree in Engineering or Product Design (or similar relevant degree). 
  • Ideally experience of the Automotive, Electric Vehicle or e-bike sector

Salary: £ depending on experience 

Permanent/full time position – 40 hours per week
